About

The son of a New Jersey Jew and a refugee from WWII Estonia, Tavet was born in Manhattan in 1982 and raised in Brooklyn. His life was timed such that his coming of age coincided perfectly with the transformation of his hometown from jungle to theme park, from Gothic to glib.

Against the backdrop of a society that can no longer distinguish between substance and surface, Tavet struggles with an essential, irresolvable question: to laugh or to scream.
